Events to mark International Women’s Day
 
On 8 March 2007, to mark the International Women’s Day, CWDR held events in Mullaithivu and Vavuniya districts. In Puthukkudiyiruppu in Mullaithivu district, at the event CWDR handed out sewing machines to nine women, a loan of Rupees 9500 each to six women, and prizes to three other women who successfully repaid their loans. In the Vavuniya district event 40 women who have saved money with CWDR were handed savings account book that were opened in their name in a bank.
