In the Kilinochchi district livelihood development loans ranging from Rs 10,000 to 25,000 were given to deserving women. In total Rs 580,000 were handed out as loans. In Mullaithivu the 60 beneficiaries were handed a total of Rs 1,150,000.

CWDR has in place the structure to give such livelihood assistance loans and monitor the progress of the beneficiaries. It has a long history implementing such schemes. The system in place has successfully collected the loans, encouraged those who repay the loan with further assistance and recycle the money to assist more women in need.
 
The Uyirppu livelihood assistance scheme was ceremonially launched on 10 October with loan obtained from a bank. The above events were the first concrete assistance given through it.
