Kfir bombing destroy Padahuthurai village in Mannar 14 killed

Fourteen people are dead including six children and more than thirty are injured including scores of children in a Sri Lankan air raid on a Tamil fishing village in Mannar.
On 2 January 2007 exactly at 9.35 am four Sri Lankan air force Kfirs bombed the fishing village of Padahuthurai near Iluppaikkdavai in Mannar district.
Fourteen civilians are reported killed including six children and at least another 30 seriously injured including scores of children. Out of the 30 houses in the village of Padahuthurai, 25 houses are completely burnt down. Only 5 houses are standing up but badly damaged. 26 of the seriously injured were taken to Mulankavil hospital. Many of the badly injured including several children have been tranferred to Kilinochchi hospital. Doctor Sathananthan of Kilinochchi hospital said most of the victims brought to the hospital are children. He added that the hospital is short of bandages and antibiotics due to ministry of defence clearance delays. ICRC Mannar and ICRC Kilinochchi have visited the spot. Acting Head of UNICEF Kilinochchi, Kit Dyer visited Kilinochchi hospital to see the injured children. Padahuthurai village is Christian fishing village. The families were on holiday and were relaxing after their new year celebrations when the Sri Lankan Kfirs attacked the village.
