SLA artillery kills two civilians and injures seven in Suthanthirapuram
SLA artillery shells fired around 5.30pm on 15 January killed two civilians and injured seven more including four children in Suthanthirapuram, 12 kilometers east of Tharmapuram, where a large number of IDPs have sought shelter.
Distraught Mariampillai's daughter Mariampillai Johnsmary, a 58 year old man, displaced recently from Sundilulam was settling up a shelter for his family in Suthanthirapuram when the shells hit. He died instantly. Four of his young children were injured. One of them died later of injuries. Two more of his sons are in serious condition, one of whom has lost a leg. Another man, Shanmugam Selvarasa aged 50, who was travelling on the road, was also killed instantly. Killed
