Family of six blown to pieces, surviving members unable to hold funeral
At 6.45am SLA fired artillery blew up a family of six, father, mother and four children, to pieces in Red-Barna in Visuvamadu. The four children killed in the family are aged from one to sixteen. Three more IDPs, two of them children aged 10 and 14, were also killed by this shelling incident.
Pieces of the nine IDPs killed at the hospital Two survivors of the family, a son and daughter under 15 years, have no relatives nearby and are unable to hold a funeral. They have appealed for someone to carry out a burial of the pieces of the bodies of their parents and siblings strewn all around. The family is originally from Santhapuram in Kilinochchi with the permanent address, 8th Lane, Santhapuram. They had displaced to Kalmadu and then to Manickapuram in Red-Barna. The incident occurred in front of the GTM School at Manickapuram junction.

Names of the six family members are:
1. Karupaih Peruma, father aged 48 years
2. Perumal Indra, mother aged 40 years
3. Perumal Kayalvili, female child aged 1 year
4. Perumal Tharmini, female child aged 7 years
5. Perumal Thushyanthini, female child aged 13 years and
6. Perumal Sinthuja, female child aged 16 years
Other three IDPs killed are:
1. Indranathan Keerthana, child aged 10 years
2. Thavarasa Thavakumar, child aged 14 years
3. Somasundaram Indrakumar, male aged 45 years

1. Ramalingam Mathivanan, male child aged 14 years
2. Ramalingam Mathivani, female child aged 8 years
3. Nadarsa, male aged 70 years
4. Rasathurai, male aged 70 years
5. Nadarasa Pavalaranee, female aged 58 years
6. Soundararasa Thivakaran, male aged 19 years
7. Ramasethu Kathirkamanathan, male aged 37 years
8. Sasikaran, male aged 20 years
